Mas de L'Abundancia 2003
Montsant
He bottled his first flagship wine, named for the winery “Mas de l’Abundancia,” in 2002. Made from Garnacha and Cariñena, this wine symbolizes the fusion of an ancient land with innovative enology and artistic winemaking. This is the first time these wines have been imported into the United States.
The 2003 Mas de l’Abundancia is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha Negra, and Carineña. The Mas de l’Abundància vineyard is located at the base of one of the oldest and most intriguing “Ermitas,” or little churches, in the Priorat region. Said to have been inhabited by a prehistoric goddess, this land is thought to contain a certain “feminine energy.” The vines that make up this wine range from 20 to 80 years-old and are planted both on hillside and valley floor land.
